BSKB 2012 Advanced Patent and Licensing Seminar Dates Announced

Falls Church, VA, San Diego, CA - November 30, 2011 - Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP announced today the 2012 dates for its third annual seminars. The 18th annual Advanced Patent & Licensing Seminar will be held October 9 through October 19, 2012.

The two-week Advanced Patent and Licensing Seminar (APLS) is a series of lectures and workshops aimed at participants who already possess a basic understanding of the U.S. patent system. Participants of BSKB's Summer Patent Seminar or participants with an equivalent level of training or knowledge are encouraged to attend. Lectures cover patentability standards and significant patent prosecution strategies, as well as reissue and reexamination procedures, literal patent claim scope interpretation, and doctrine of equivalents and prosecution history estoppel. The seminar also offers participants the chance to experience hands-on problem solving in the form of workshops on such topics as validity and infringement issues, license agreement drafting issues, settlement negotiation strategies, and litigation strategies. The 2012 APLS will feature lectures on the changes in U.S. patent law brought about by the implementation of the America Invents Act.

BSKB’s seminars have included participants from the U.S., Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America. In addition to the academic component, the seminars offers foreign participants the chance to experience American culture, and U.S. participants are afforded the opportunity to learn about the customs represented by our foreign constituents. Enrollment in the seminars is limited and includes outings to popular Washington, D.C. landmarks, sporting, and social events.
