Partner Robert Kenney Quoted in BNA's Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal on Trademark Issues at the 2016 Olympic Games
Robert Kenney, a partner in BSKB's trademark and litigation practices, was quoted in BNA's Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal article entitled "For Olympics, Much at Stake in Trademark Enforcement," published on July 21, 2016. Discussing the potential trademark issues surrounding the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Kenney discusses the publicity issues involved in enforcing trademarks owned by the Olympics committees, and the benefits and burdens of enforcing those rights. "I tend to come down on these issues generally on the side of the trademark owner," Kenney said. "But I do understand people's feeling that it's heavy-handed or excessive." Kenney also states "The benefit is that they [the trademark owner] can pursue every single use, the burden of it is that they probably have to pursue every single use."
