This presentation will discuss the recent Federal Circuit decision in Rain Computing, Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., in which the court found that the term “user identification module” is a means-plus-function term that invokes 35 U.S.C. § 112 ¶ 6. Further, the court ruled that the term renders the claims indefinite because the claims and the specification lack sufficient structure for performing the claimed function.
